Year 1 transported back to 1666!
On Wednesday, Year 1 were transported back to 1666 during the time of ‘The Great Fire of London.’
The children were visited by The Freshwater Theatre Company to support their work in class. Through drama and music the children learnt about how the fire started in the bakery on Pudding Lane, how the fire spread and how it finally stopped. The children pretended to be the fire and acted out putting out the fire using leather buckets and fire squirts. They also pretended to be some of the houses crowded together on the streets.
All of Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and it really brought the topic alive for the children!
