This term we are delighted to welcome Kingshott’s new Head of Senior Science, Mr Alastair Davey.
Mr Davey joins Kingshott with 17 years of experience teaching Science at Secondary level, including GCSEs.
“We are delighted Mr Davey is joining Kingshott and bringing with him many years’ experience of teaching and leading Science at GCSE level,” says Head of Kingshott, Mr David Weston. “He joins Kingshott this term to further develop our Science curriculum for Years 9 through to 11, as well as assisting with the design of our new Science labs. He will be working alongside Mrs Keel , and supported by our Science Technician, Mrs Schilling."
Mr Davey graduated from the University of Nottingham with a BSc in Physics and then completed a PGCE at the University of Exeter. For the past 17 years he has been teaching Science in comprehensive secondary schools in the London boroughs of Hackney and Brent, where he held a range of roles in the Science department including Lead Practitioner and Head of Science.
“I am really excited to be joining at a time when the planning for GCSE curriculum is in full swing,” says Mr Davey. “I am also particularly pleased to be joining a school that offers such a wide range of enrichment opportunities to the students in addition to their academic studies. Having taught GCSE Astronomy for the past 10 years and given there are some lovely dark skies above Kingshott, watch this space for some new stargazing opportunities in the future!”
