Libraries & Reading
Kingshott has two School Library areas - one in the Rowan building with books for our youngest pupils, and another in the heart of the school for our older pupils - which is open daily for pupils in Year 3 and above during the school day including at lunchtime.
A staff Librarian is ably assisted by children who fulfil a role of responsibility as Librarians. They earn a Librarian badge and can take part in a competition at the end of each term to receive a book if they attend regularly to be a Librarian.
The Library is a multifunctional facility. It provides a calm and welcoming environment for pupils to enjoy quiet chat, reading or to get ahead with written homework. The library also plays an important part in the pastoral care here at Kingshott school.
World Book Day is celebrated every year with children dressing up as their favourite characters.
The Library stocks a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction books, which are available for pleasure, homework or research. To aid children in their book choices, the fiction area is divided into a Years 3 and 4 section and another for Years 5 to 8. The non-fiction area is also subdivided into different subject areas, dictionaries and encyclopedias. We have an updated electronic library system which enables children to search our book stock and write book reviews.
