Category / School NewsScience comes to life in two workshops for Year 4 pupils!
Last week Year 4 enjoyed taking part in two exciting science activities!
The Cambridge Science Centre visited Kingshott to run an hour-long session to complement our current science topic – Electricity. The children were challenged to build and test simple circuits, electromagnets and a miniature wind turbine, all of which gave them a greater understanding of how electromagnets can be used for powering our world in new and innovative ways.
We were also delighted to welcome Dr Collins, a current parent, who spent an insightful hour with each class supporting our topic work on Our Planet. She shared some of the amazing science she is involved with in her work at the Natural Environment Research Council, the UK’s largest public funder of environmental science. The children learned about the people working at the UK’s research centre in Antarctica, followed the adventures of Boaty McBoatface and were able to take a peek inside a flying laboratory. They were able to get a first hand insight into how different people across the world are working to diagnose and improve the health of our planet. Thank you, Dr Collins for taking the time to visit Kingshott to inspire all of our Year 4 pupils.
