On Tuesday, the Year 7 and 8 pupils spent the day in central London. The morning involved a visit to the Houses of Parliament where the students had a fascinating guided tour of the state rooms and the Great Hall. It was a busy day in Parliament and both houses were in session. We were all lucky enough to see the Speaker’s procession into the House of Commons.
Lunch was enjoyed in the foyer café at the National Theatre on the south bank en route to the Globe theatre. There, a couple of professional actors from the company took us into the theatre and told us all about the Globe’s colourful history. We were then treated to a ‘Romeo and Juliet’ workshop in their rehearsal rooms. A lot of biting of thumbs went on as the students experimented with body language, voice and eye contact to create different dramatic effects.
All of the pupils enjoyed this fantastic, culturally packed day out in sunny London!
