This term in Games we have been focusing on football and hockey. Pupils have enjoyed taking part in a wide variety of different matches against our local competitor schools. All the pupils are showing great enthusiasm and engagement across all year groups, showcasing the broad range of skills they have learnt in their game’s lessons. We are looking forward to our future fixtures to see this develop further.
Most notably, some of our enthusiastic hockey players from Year 5 and 6 had an unforgettable experience when they attended a festival of hockey at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. They enjoyed a coaching session before taking part in the tournament. They were certainly inspired for the hockey season ahead.
In PE we have been delivering some Strength and Conditioning sessions to the Year 5 to 9 students. They have worked extremely hard and really pushed themselves in these lessons. They have been learning the importance of activating muscles pre-exercise, how to develop speed, agility, power, co-ordination, balance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility and reaction times. Year 3 and 4 pupils have been working on invasion games and learning about spatial awareness, teamwork, communication, decision making, attacking and defensive skills.
