Our NEW Reception Classrooms!

Our Reception children are all really enjoying their new classrooms.  The Reception setting was adapted over the summer and at the start of term - with three classrooms being reconfigured into a new and impressive Reception area that provides perfect spaces for learning and play for our two Reception classes.  Each class has their own home-base and carpet area which now freely flow into a central space. This enables more fun and friendship across the year group, and even more opportunity to learn through play.  The new central space is perfect for imaginative play, making creations and sensory exploration, with ever-changing themed provocations aimed to inspire our youngest minds throughout. The reconfiguration has also freed up considerable space, by removing all the built-in cupboards the rooms are now even more spacious, enabling more learning activities to be set up to be enjoyed throughout the day.  There are new ergonomic tables that can be adapted to suit what's being taught, and a comfy reading nook to enjoy a book!

This half-term Reception are learning to retell ‘The Odd Egg’ story  in Talk for Writing, making and writing about their own eggs as well as making their own story books about their eggs.

The changes and improvements to our Early Years provision isn't just inside, the outside area has and continues to be developed, providing a fantastic free-flow space for exploration every day for Nursery and Reception. Last term there was a 'Pumpkin Potion' station, and a reading shed decked out to encourage pupils to take part in a puppet theatre.
