There was much excitement at the Poetry by Heart competition on Wednesday in our Sports Hall.
Headmaster Mr Weston says "I was hugely impressed by all the children who stood up and bravely recanted the poems they had learnt in front of all of our school community in years 3-8. It takes considerable courage to stand in the hall and recall complex poetry whist performing it with tone and tempo in front of 250 staff and pupils. The children performed admirably and demonstrated the skills we aim to instil in them as they grow older through partnership between school and home. Even though only the finalists performed, I know that all the children tried their very best in learning and reciting poems for their peers and they should all be proud of their achievement."
