Category / School NewsNurturing a love of books: World Book Day & Storytelling sessions!
At Kingshott, we aim to nurture a love of books and reading as we know that it is the best way to help all our children on their learning journey.
We celebrated a wonderful World Book Day yesterday and the children (and staff) looked resplendent dressed as their favourite book characters. The day started with a fashion parade and then the children participated in the whole school Mystery Reader event! Thank you to all the staff who worked hard to create a whole host of book related activities for the children all day. We also very much enjoyed hosting a book fair run by David’s Bookshop in Letchworth.
Last Friday, in the run up to World Book Day, children from Nursery to Year 6 participated in interactive storytelling sessions with Izy from the Oxford Story Museum. Year 4 told stories about animals doing unusual things, like the crocodile who wanted to fly, whilst Reception learnt about a bat who needed to solve problems for himself. The Oxford Story Museum is a fabulous, interactive, family day out that we would highly recommend visiting.
